Mid-Week Christmasy Moment

"Christmas is the celebration of the keeping of a promise."

This little tree topping angel has been in our family from the first Christmas after Sherwin and I were married so you know that little angel is over 44 years old.  Every year I have on my list to find a new tree topper but so far nothing has been found so this sweet little angel continues to grace the top of the tree.  Sherwin is somewhat setimentally attached to that first ornament bought together so it probably will be with us until we no longer need a Christmas tree.

How many of you had a monkey doll when you were a kid?  My mother's mother made them and gave them to us for gifts.  Good memories of Grandma Bechthold and sitting around her bed all those years ago.

"What is Christmas?
It is tenderness for the past, courage for the present,
hope for the future."

Wishing you all peace in your hearts as you prepare for the loveliest of holidays.

  1. I, too, think you should keep your Christmas angel forever--it is a symbol of your love for each other. And I love the quote about What is Christmas--that is going in my quote book for sure--thanks for sharing.

  2. Yep, it's a keeper, Ma. Love that angel.

I was hoping for more ornament pictures... I'm living vicariously through you this year, you know!!

  3. I compliment you on your tireless mission to constantly improve our nest and surroundings. However, there is an appreciated value that far surpasses the original purchase price of the angel that has topped our tree since our first year of marriage. And even if you could find a more splendid angel, our old faithful cherub would be hurt to be discarded.

I hope that on our 80th Christmas together you can turn to me after decorating the tree and tell me how amazed you are that this same angel has survived all these years just as well as our love for each other has.

  4. What a sweet little angle! I don't think you could find anything that would top it's effect even if you wanted to change it!! Hang on to the good things!
