Just Messing Around...

Birthdays come but once a year and for that we are thankful since the numbers are getting bigger and bigger and bigger!  Imagine my delight to receive gifts already even though my birthday is 2 weeks away.  Of course, I think my husband was as excited to give as to see me receive.  Just last week our daughter sent us a link to a demonstration of pastels, not the usual pastels, panpastels.

Yesterday morning I set up the dining room table with all the old sets of pastels I had accumulated over the years and not used and then my pretty new set and we both went to work.  It was a delight.  The panpastels go on so nicely, so smoothly and it is hard not to get a good result.  The set Sherwin purchased for me is called the Landscape Series.  See...

Sherwin used mostly the old sets of hard, soft, oil and grey pastels and went to work:

I, on the other hand, couldn't wait to mess about with the new little pots of color.  So fun:

Since I enjoy sketching this seems a logical extension of that.
Have a great week.

  1. Wow. That we should all be able to "mess around" so ably...

I'm excited for you! Yeah for a fun new medium!

  2. Wow, are you two ever talented--I love both of the pictures--and such a fun thing to do together.

  3. exquisite!! you know, the girl's teachers are commenting on what great artists they are...i have no doubt where they get it from!

  4. That looks really good.
