Sherwin had a birthday today, for which I am thankful.  The very fact that we have travelled together down the road for over 45 years officially, is quite astounding.  I am grateful that we both have good health and the enjoyment of each other.  We feel most abundantly blessed.

Today when I realized there was snow on the ground outside I had to run out to take some photos...we do not get that much snow here for which I am thankful, but it was pretty this morning.

I am very thankful for my new little apple trees that I planted some time ago.  I talk to them.  I rub their leaves.  I sing to them and am expecting them to have a 'fruitful' season next year.

But when I see them covered in snow I am thankful for the promise of Spring.

"If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant; if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome."   -Anne Bradstreet

"Sometimes our fate resembles a fruit tree in winter.  Who would think that those branches would turn green again and blossom, but we hope it, we know it."  -Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Tell me, what is it that you are most thankful for tonight?  Tell me, what promise do you hope for, knowing it is sure?  For you I am wishing something to be thankful for and some promise that you know is a sure thing.
