Monochromatic Monday . . .Lesson in Black & White

This morning as I was helping Sherwin install a video onto his blog I found these lessons on black and white photography.  They are within easy reach right on YouTube.

Is that not a clever thing?  And now that I have photoshop installed on my computer I am set to experiment even more with my project...looking for the best black and white subjects in my files.

Tell me. . .How do you see the world?  Are there days when it looks pretty black and white with shades of grey or are you a constant colour person?

How do you dream?  Do you see colour in your dreams or just remember impressions of shapes and feelings?

May your new week be full of colour and texture and effects.  Look closely about you and you will see shades of colour you didn't think were there at first glance.  Look closely.

But before I leave you today I will send you a before/after set of photos . . .

or maybe this. . .

"My soul is full of longing
For the secret of the sea,
And the heart of the great ocean
Sends a thrilling pulse through me."

-Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

And do tell me if you find the tutorial to be of value to you?

  1. Great tutorial, Shirley. I am very impressed at how much you have learned in the past year working with the Project 365 posting a photo a day.

You have a good eye for composition and can see opportunities where most people totally miss the details around them.

    1. Thanks, Babe...some days I feel the urge to take off just to take photos. We will have to do that soon.
